Sunrise over the Sunset
~~ ARCHIVES ~~
A blanket of fog covers the Golden Gate Park and the Sunset District. Before it was developed in the 1930's and 40's, the Sunset was just an expanse of sand dunes and shrubs. It could have looked like the Arabian Desert, so much so, that in 1921, a Hollywood film company (Famous Players-Lasky) came to the Sunset to film some desert exteriors for the "The Sheik" starring Rudolph Valentino.
